(c) The School of the Sword 2009 : The School of the Sword is a Western Martial Arts school providing lessons in sword fighting and Historical European martial arts in Berkshire/Surrey UK

 

Caroline Stewart is the founder and director of the School of the Sword. She has been studying and demonstrating historical martial arts since 1996 including teaching at a number of international HEMAC events in the UK and Europe.

 

Caroline has focused on the study of the rapier according to Francesco Alfieri and has also studied and taught backsword and smallsword. She is one of the few people in the UK to study Alfieri's 1638 Treatise, La Bandiera or flag. Before starting to teach rapier as a martial art, Caroline taught demonstration and performance combat, an interest still occasionally pursued by the School.

 

Caroline is a highly regarded within the Historical European Martial Arts community working to promote the recognition and study of western martial arts in the UK.
